On Saturday the 1st of February, was Chinese’s Spring Festival. People set up a performance at Chinatown and opened some store’s selling culture foods. I was one of the dancers from Chinese Art School, and our dance group have been invited to perform two dances on that day.
It was a very very hot day. Our dance group practice the dances first in the dance room near Chinatown, I felt very tired and burned out because of the heat, also, the air conditioner is not working in the room.
Then at night around 7:40pm, is the time of our group’s performance. We have got dressed and done the make ups, then we walked to the place in Chinatown’s street where they have the stage. The people who are organizing the performance told us to stand by for around 20 minutes then it will be our time to perform. The weather is still hot and dry, but there are still many people sitting in front of the stage watching other groups of people performing.
Not only Chinese are performing, but Indian or Japanese are also performing their cultural dances. 20 minutes has past, I felt a bit nervous to go up on the stage and dance, although it is not the first time of performing the dance. I’m also a bit stressing out because one of the dance we didn’t practice much on that and I’m little bit worry that I might get the dance movements wrong.
Finally the performance is ended, the audiences all applause for the performance, then our dance teacher congrats us and told us, we have done it well. After all, we all satisfied about the performance. I think we deserve the applause from the audience due to the hard practices on dances.
